About the Client
Our client is a rapidly growing international crypto payment company that provides secure, compliant, and scalable infrastructure for businesses worldwide. Headquartered in Tallinn with licensed operations across multiple EU jurisdictions, the company supports merchants with crypto acquiring, B2B wallets, and API-driven platforms. As part of its expansion, the company is building a regulated entity in Lithuania and looking for a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to join its executive team.

Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead the design and oversight of the company’s enterprise-wide risk management framework in Lithuania. As a Board Member, the CRO will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with EU regulations (MiCA, DORA, AML/CFT) while safeguarding the company’s operational and financial resilience.

The CRO will oversee all aspects of risk management, including financial, operational, ICT, and regulatory risks, and act as the key point of contact for regulators and auditors. This role requires a deep understanding of the crypto and fintech sectors, proven expertise in managing complex risk environments, and the ability to guide both executive leadership and operational teams in making sound risk-based decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement the company’s risk management framework, aligned with MiCA, DORA, AML/CFT, and other EU regulatory requirements.

• Identify, assess, and monitor risks across financial, operational, ICT, and regulatory domains.

• Develop and maintain risk policies, controls, and reporting frameworks.

• Provide independent oversight and advice to the Board on risk exposures and mitigation strategies.

• Ensure robust risk reporting to regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders.

• Oversee stress testing, scenario analysis, and capital adequacy/risk appetite frameworks.

• Supervise business continuity and crisis management planning, ensuring resilience to operational disruptions.

• Work closely with Compliance, Technology, and Information Security leadership to align risk practices with regulatory and business objectives.

• Build a culture of risk awareness across the organization through training and clear communication.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of senior-level experience in risk management, ideally within fintech, payments, crypto, or regulated financial services.

• Strong knowledge of EU risk management frameworks and regulatory requirements (MiCA, DORA, AML/CFT, PSD2).

• Proven experience in establishing and leading enterprise risk management systems in regulated environments (PSP, EMI, CASP).

• Familiarity with crypto payment flows, custody, and related risk models is a strong advantage.

• Full professional fluency in English; Lithuanian is an advantage.

• Relevant professional certifications are highly desirable.
