Role Overview

As a Senior PHP Backend Engineer, you’ll build and scale high-performance backend systems powering global crypto payment flows. You will own the development of secure, reliable services, working closely with product and engineering teams to deliver features end-to-end—from technical design to deployment—while ensuring system performance, scalability, and code quality in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-domain teams to gather requirements and deliver backend features.
- Develop and maintain backend systems using PHP (Laravel) and MySQL/PostgreSQL.
- Write clean, reusable, and efficient code following SOLID and modern PHP best practices.
- Design and implement message-driven services (Kafka or similar).
- Write unit tests and participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
- Optimize database queries, analyze performance, and resolve deadlocks.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure stability, availability, and security.
- Share on-call duties to support production systems.
- Introduce new technologies where relevant to improve performance and maintainability.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in object-oriented PHP development
- Strong knowledge of Laravel (latest versions)
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), transaction management, and optimization
- Solid background in message brokers (Kafka or alternatives)
- Hands-on experience with Docker/Docker Compose
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Knowledge of security best practices for backend services
- Good communication skills in English (B1+) and Russian
- Agile/Scrum mindset and experience

- Experience in the crypto/fintech industry
- Interviewing and mentoring engineers
- Familiarity with blockchain-based payment flows
